Lawn Core Aeration Services

We provide lawn aeration service for our clients in Aurora, Naperville, Plainfield, Oswego, and surrounding towns during the Spring and Fall season.

Great Greens provides core aeration to help stressed and decaying lawns to recover from heavy foot traffic, disease, harsh weather conditions, and pests.

If your grass is not dense, lacks color, and weeds are starting to take over, the solution may be to aerate, overseed, and fertilize it. We help residential and commercial clients to improve their turf areas by performing core aeration and overseeding utilizing quality grass seed.

What is Core Aeration?

Aeration is the mechanical process of removing plugs or “cores” of soil from a lawn. When you aerate, oxygen, nutrients, and water get easy access to the root system. Tight, compacted soil is loosened up, allowing the root system to grow.

Core Aeration Benefits List

  • Better water absorption at the root system level
  • Improves fertilizer uptake
  • Reduces water runoff and puddling
  • Improves the lawn root system
  • Minimizes soil compaction
  • Enhances drought stress tolerance
  • Reduces thatch levels.

How often should you perform lawn aeration?

For most lawns in the Chicago and Midwest areas, we recommend to do it once a year, and twice/year for very compacted soil (one in the spring, and one in the fall).

Homeowners and property owners understand the importance of regular maintenance to keep their lawns in a healthy state. The more you prepare, the less you have to spend on expensive lawn repairs and sod installations in the future.

With the help of the annual task of aerating your lawn, you provide the needed maintenance your lawn needs for the always-changing climate and weather conditions.

We recommend overseeding when performing core aeration. Most commercial aerators provide 9 holes per sq ft. Double aeration is recommended for very compacted lawns which provides around 18 holes per sq ft.
